What is Reiki?
Reiki is used to heal physical symptoms as well as balancing emotions, supporting mental clarity, stress reduction and increasing spiritual well-being. Reiki originated in Japan and has many lineages, the lineage that I am attuned in is Holy Fire II, which is a combination of several lineages to create its own. In Japanese, "rei" refers to a higher intelligence that inhabits everything, living and nonliving that guides the functioning of the universe. The second part of the word, "ki" refers to the energy that flows through everything that is alive, including plants, animals, and human beings—because of this, ki is also called "life force energy," it is also known as qi or chi from other lineages. These two words combined is what defines Reiki as "spiritually guided life-force energy." It is believed that our “ki” or energy should be strong and free flowing. When this is true, our body and mind is in a positive state of health. When the energy becomes weak or blocked it could lead to symptoms of physical or emotional imbalance.
Reiki is offered through light; non-invasive touch and its purpose is to redirect and/or remove blocked energy by transmitting Universal Life Energy to the client and charges them with positive energy.
What do Reiki treatments feel like?
Everyone is different, and their Reiki experience will be different as well depending on their individual needs at the time. You may or may not feel sensations during a Reiki treatment. Benefits of Reiki include deep relaxation and a peaceful sense of well-being. Some people feel sensations of heat, tingling, or experience seeing colors. Some may have an emotional response, indicating that shifts are taking place, allowing harmony to be restored.
It is encouraged to wear loose, comfortable clothing when coming for a Reiki session as treatment is performed with the client fully clothed.
